Wellbeing Walk Leader Volunteer

Are you an empathetic person who enjoys getting outdoors? Walking for Wellbeing is a project offering volunteer-led gentle, accessible, free walking groups for people who are struggling with their mental health. Each walk lasts approximately 1 hour.

Wellbeing Walk Leaders facilitate the walks in pairs, providing a welcoming environment and encouraging participants to get involved in physical activity. The walks take place in Oxford and Banbury. You will receive ongoing support and supervision to help you carry out your role.

Training required: Oxfordshire Mind Volunteer Induction Training one day course, and one day Wellbeing Walk Leader training.

Time commitment: We ask for a commitment of 1 session per week (1-2 hours) for a minimum of 3 months. Volunteers should arrive before the walk and stay for a telephone debrief with staff at the end. Walks take place during the daytime Mon-Fri.

Location: Oxford or Banbury. Travel expenses reimbursed in line with our organisational policy.

Skills needed: Volunteers need to be organised, good communicators, and comfortable taking a leadership role alongside fellow volunteers to lead these walks.

Application process: Application form, informal interview, two references and a DBS check.
