We are encouraging residents in Oxford to take part in our team of runners participating in the Oxford Half Marathon 2021. Our message is to spread the importance of exercise for not only physical health, but also mental wellbeing. Alongside this, runners will be supporting Oxfordshire Mind, through fundraising and increasing awareness of our services.
The marathon will take place in Oxford city centre on 17 October and anyone looking to sign up for a charity place can go to our Oxford Half Marathon event page or can get in touch with a member of the fundraising team, who will also be there to provide support along the way.
Around 10,000 runners participated in the Oxford Half Marathon in 2019 with over 200 runners supporting Oxfordshire Mind and a total of £67,970 was raised! The event was cancelled in 2020 by the Oxfordshire City Council due to safety issues surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic but is back on for 2021 and will include extra safety precautions for runners participating around the city of Oxford.
‘I couldn’t think of a more deserving charity for everyone’s support especially in this day and age where mental health is so important.’
Oxford Half Marathon 2019 runner
Oxfordshire Mind charity runners will be provided with a fundraising pack, an Oxfordshire Mind T-shirt for you and your supporters as well as a certificate to acknowledge your great achievement. You will also be provided with lots of advice and tips on how to maximise your fundraising efforts as well as support from a dedicated point of contact throughout your journey.
“We know how important physical activity is to our mental wellbeing and appreciate every runner that helps support our dedicated local mental health services by taking to the streets in the name of better mental health!”.
Dan Knowles, CEO, Oxfordshire Mind
