Youth in Mind Berkshire Live Webinars 2024

For everyone who works with children and young people

This year, Youth in Mind Berkshire will be hosting a series of webinars designed to expand the knowledge and skills of everyone working with children and young people across Berkshire. We understand that you may be stretched for time and funds too, so these free, one-hour, online sessions are designed to give you the opportunity to learn from experts, but of equal importance, young people too, about how best to support their mental health and wellbeing.

Thursday 27 June at 10am

Tuesday 2 July at 4pm
Professor Mina Fazel – Oxwell Student Survey Findings
Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Professor of Adolescent Psychiatry, University of Oxford

Mina will discuss some of the key findings of the most recent survey with a panel of young people who are always forthright and insightful. This promises to be a stimulating and enlightening discussion!

The OxWell Student Survey is a large-scale annual survey undertaken by The University of Oxford’s Department of Psychiatry led by Mina. It is designed to measure the wellbeing (health and happiness) of children and young people aged 9–18 years old.

The research generated by the OxWell survey is used at a national, local and school level to help provide valuable insights into what students need to thrive, which factors influence their wellbeing and how they would like to access help if they have mental health difficulties.

Thursday 4 July at 4pm
Gender Inclusion and Allyship – How to support young people whatever their gender
Aliya Dhalla-Bhimji – Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Equality Manager – Oxfordshire Mind and Mind in Berkshire (West)

Aliya and a group of young people will explore how we can better support and advocate for all young people, whatever their gender.

Gender inclusion is about creating an environment where people of all genders feel valued and respected. In this session, we will explore putting that into action in different settings. We aim to draw on a range of perspectives, including – but by no means confined to – male, female, non-binary (neither strictly male nor female) and transgender (identifying with a gender different from assigned sex at birth).

This session is for anyone who wants to promote gender inclusion, including how to be ally and champion the rights of people from minoritised gender groups.

This is a brave space to ask questions, listen and learn, so that together, we can create more inclusive spaces for everyone.

Each webinar will end with a facilitated Q & A session. An opportunity to ask questions that may not have been covered by our speakers.
